Get Rid of Bush

« previous entry | next entry »

On the ground as protesters entered Waterfront Park in downtown Portland was a very large cache of signs to choose from if you were unable to make your own. This young lady however created her very own purple, pink and yellow "Get Rid of Bush" sign that blew away any of the mass produced "Stop Torture" or Bring the Troops Home Now" signs. She even colored in little symbols for "No War" and "Peace on Earth" It would be great if everyone made their own signs, it adds a personal touch. That one reminds me of my daughter, who I'm sure we'll see protesting sooner rather than later, of her own accord. :)

Thank you! I never set anything up or pose a photo as far as the photojournalism goes... I don’t want anyone to know I am photographing them so I mostly just sit down unassuming and wait for the goodness to be played out for my camera ;)

Danny, this is a really fantastic shot. The expression on her face and the upside down sign speaks so much of society's lethargy and complacence.

Whatever else you do or forbear,
impose upon yourself the task of happiness;
and now and then abandon yourself
to the joy of laughter.
And however much you condemn the evil in the world,
remember that the world is not all evil;
that somewhere children are at play,
as you yourself in the old days;
that women still find joy in the stalwart hearts of men;
And that men, treading with restless feet their many paths,
may yet find refuge from the storms of the world
in the cheerful house of love.”

Max Ehrmann, 1872-1945
American Lawyer, Philosopher and Poet
