You Are Wrong!

Intimidation is the word I’d use to describe the born again folks methods for arguing their belief system and saving souls. In this photo the gentleman to the right is telling the gentleman on the left that their method for teaching people about Jesus and bringing them closer to God does not work. He is stating their actions on the streets are actually scaring people away from God and giving them a false idea of what Jesus was all about. Well you know scary Jesus freak on the left would hear nothing of it as he spurted out a bunch of chapters and verses. If you would like to view a larger version you can check out my deviantART or Flickr accounts.

wow. Either freaky jesus dude is 10 feet tall or he's on a platform. I never understood the platform idea. Aren't they close enough to god in their hearts?

Anyway. Moving picture. I think that topic is the one I get the most heated about.

Freaky Jesus dude is actually standing on a soapbox and I think the lens also distorts the view a bit to make him look even bigger :)

Obviously, there are a lot of radical Christian-types.. but just saying "the born again folks" sounds a little ignorant. Most real Christians think these people are idiots too.

There are radical perspectives on the left and the right... but I think you need to be careful not to stereotype either side. Unless alienating everyone who considers themselves a "born-again" is the object.

I am talking about "the born again folks" not Christians. I believe people are smart enough to know what I am talking about...

I usually dont comment because I'm a bit shy, but this picture is absolutely perfect. Before I read your explaination, the body language, facial expression, and enviorment told the whole story. Reading the above paragraph was like reading my mind. Beautifully done, one of your best that I've seen.

Since when did you become shy? Thanks you so much ;) I think it is likely one of the best of this series as well...

aw man, these guys depress me.

there is a similar type in N.I, too, but of a different sort. The Free Presbyterians. They get all dressed up in their suits, talk in King James English, and yell into megaphones about the fire and brimstone of hell.

It breaks my heart, as a "born again" of the non-psycho type. And trying to talk to them is almost pointless, if you try (as a christian), they just say that you couldn't possibly be a christian at all.

I have a friend who was told not to come back to this (very very strict and legalistic) church until he cut off his sideburns. Ah, yes...I'm sure Jesus would kick your ass for having sidies.

ARGH!

My friends and I all have some great in-jokes about these guys, we do impressions by putting on a big northern ireland country accent and saying "well you couldn't be saved!" and don't let it get to us ;-)

So many people walking down the street tried the same thing, telling them how they repel people from god, but they believe they are right and that this is the right approach. I however believe there is something much bigger going on in their psyche, and I believe it has nothing to do with god...

I dont think I have ever ordered a preint from a photographer. If it's available, it would be my first. Outside of National Geographic, it is the best potojournalistic image I have seen in a long time. Let me know if it is orderable through DeviantART anytime soon.
